Fill the right fields
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Source type / Source display name / Source email / Source key | The source identity to resolve. Source key is the most reliable identifier when names repeat or a group has no email. |
| Resolution | destination_account, same_external, or exclude. |
| Destination type / Destination display name | The expected existing destination identity when mapping to an account. |
| Destination email or UPN | An exact destination address to verify for destination_account. |
| Destination object ID | The directory object ID; useful when names or addresses are ambiguous. |
Choose the resolution
- destination_account: provide an existing destination email/UPN, display name, or object ID. ShareRestore verifies the selected identity in the connected destination tenant.
- same_external: use only for an eligible source external person with a valid email. Leave the destination identity fields blank.
- exclude: record that this identity's access should not be restored.
- There is no Send invitation column in the current template. For a new guest under same_external, Microsoft sends the invitation during approved execution.
Import, inspect, and save
- Download the identity CSV from the current identity review and fill it without changing source keys.
- Import the CSV and review each result. Correct ambiguous, missing, or incompatible identities.
- Apply the reviewed CSV decisions to the identity selections.
- For a batch, choose Save decisions and prepare again. For standalone Identity, choose Save identity decisions and rebuild the restore plan.
- Inspect the final destination recipients and roles before approval.
Resolve common CSV errors
Use Source key when a source name or email matches more than one identity. Add Destination object ID when a destination match is ambiguous. A group must map to a compatible destination group or be excluded; it cannot use same_external.
Use the site-mapping template for site URLs and the identity template for people and groups. Their columns solve different problems.
