Review the prepared plan
- After choosing Review selected recovery, wait for the loading indicator. The page moves to Review recovery and results when the draft is ready.
- Read the object count and each proposed Add, Remove, or inheritance operation. Check paths, recipients, and permission levels.
- Review Up to new restore credits, the available balance, and objects already credited. Use Refresh credit estimate if needed.
- If anything is wrong, change the comparison selection or mode and prepare a new plan. Plans expire after 30 minutes; prepare again when a plan has expired.
Use the existing restore credits
Manual and scheduled backups, comparisons, plan preparation, and CSV exports are free. Only an approved recovery with verified changes consumes restore credits.
Recovery uses the same account trial allowance and workspace project license as core restores. Each unique changed site, list/library, file/folder, or list item counts once, regardless of its recipients or number of operations. A file or folder already credited by a core restore in the same workspace is not charged again, and the reverse also applies.
Failed, skipped, unverified, and already-present changes use no additional credits. Credits can be reserved while a recovery is active. If a balance is insufficient, use Manage restore credits for the selected workspace before preparing or approving the intended work.
Approve the changes
- Select I understand this recovery uses restore credits for verified changes. The arrow highlights this checkbox until it is selected.
- Choose Approve and recover permissions. There is no phrase to type. The explicit button approves this prepared plan.
- Wait while the recovery is queued or in progress. A fresh permission backup is saved before changes start, and current access is checked against the comparison.
- Objects whose access changed after comparison are blocked. Review the reason and take a fresh backup and comparison before preparing another plan.
Read recovery history
Queued and running history entries refresh automatically. The progress animation does not represent a percentage. Choose View recovery to inspect the selected attempt.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Draft | The recovery plan is prepared and has not been approved. |
| Queued | Approved work is waiting to start; an animated waiting indicator is shown. |
| In progress | The recovery is running; a spinner and moving progress track are shown. |
| Completed | The recovery finished. Open it and inspect the object results. |
| Completed with issues | The recovery finished with issues. Inspect failed or skipped object results and their details. |
| Failed | The recovery could not finish successfully. Open it and read the error before preparing new work. |
Verify and keep the evidence
- Read every object result in Review recovery and results. Verified, skipped, and failed outcomes have different meanings; a finished job is not a substitute for checking the details.
- Use Export saved permissions CSV for the before-recovery record when it is available.
- Independently check the intended recipient and permission level in SharePoint. Consider other access through groups and inheritance.
- Take a fresh permission backup and compare again to confirm the intended final access. Preserve any unresolved failures and the recovery reference for support.
